Western Reserve Local School District is committed to promoting student and staff wellness
through comprehensive nutrition education, physical activity, and overall well-being initiatives.
Nutrition & Meal Programs: The district provides standards-based nutrition education
across all grade levels and follows USDA guidelines, incorporating the Fresh Fruit and
Vegetable Program. Smarter Lunchroom techniques are used to encourage healthy eating
habits, and students have access to handwashing stations in the lunchroom. Certified
Food Handlers prepare and serve breakfast and lunch daily.
Physical Activity & Education: Students in elementary, middle, and high school
participate in physical education classes, with elementary students also receiving daily
recess. Physical activity is used as an incentive for students in grades K-12, and
opportunities for community physical activity are available.
Staff & Community Wellness: A staff wellness program supports employee health, with
multiple staff members certified in CPR. The district also maintains a district-wide
recycling program to promote environmental responsibility.
The next Wellness Meeting will take place on March 25, 2025, at 1:45 p.m. in the Board of
Education Office.
