Collins, OH – Western Reserve Local Schools proudly celebrated a milestone achievement on Tuesday, August 13th, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly completed Fisher-Titus Track at Sean Moore Stadium. This event not only marked the completion of a state-of-the-art track but also highlighted a multi-year renovation project that has transformed the district’s athletic facilities.
Superintendent Will Snyder encapsulated the significance of the day in his remarks, stating, "The ribbon cutting for our new track is a shining example of how we live our vision: Inspiring Hometown Pride, Instilling Excellence, and Unlocking Pathways to Success. With our goals set high and our community's unwavering support, this is just the beginning as we continue to inspire, instill, and innovate at Western Reserve Local Schools."
The Fisher-Titus Track, named in recognition of the generous donations from Fisher-Titus Medical Center, stands as a testament to the district’s commitment to excellence. Dr. John Burkey, President and CEO of Fisher-Titus, expressed the organization’s pride in being part of this transformational project. “It is a goal of Fisher-Titus to support high school athletes, and it has been an honor to be part of this project,” Dr. Burkey said.
Dr. Christina Canfield, a respected community member and physician at Fisher-Titus, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the holistic benefits the new facilities will bring. “Not only is it a privilege and honor to be a part of the community, but being part of it means being a family,” Dr. Canfield remarked. She also highlighted the health and wellness benefits the new amenities will offer to the broader community.
The multi-year renovation project, which has revitalized the stands, added ADA accessibility, installed new stadium lights, and introduced new press boxes and a scenic viewing hill, is a remarkable achievement made possible through the tireless efforts of the community. Jeff Grandy, President of the Athletic Boosters, reflected on the journey, stating, “It started as just a pipe dream, and the community members made it a reality.”
Tim Weisenberger, a key figure in the project’s success and construction manager, underscored the collective effort behind the renovations. “None of this would have happened without each person on the wall,” Weisenberger said, attributing the success to the funding, time, and labor contributed by the community. “We did it for the kids, for the community, and for the school.”
Kristie Jarrett, whose efforts were recognized multiple times throughout the ceremony, played an instrumental role as the project chair. Working closely with Superintendent Snyder and the Athletic Boosters, Jarrett spearheaded the project from inception to completion. “You can have a plan, but if you don’t have doers, you aren’t going anywhere,” Jarrett stated, expressing her deep gratitude to the community and emphasizing that this is only the beginning of what’s to come.
This project would not have been possible without the contributions of numerous companies and individuals who provided their expertise, resources, and support. Notable mentions include Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Haynes Construction, Mesenburg Bros., Heidelberg Materials, Zeiter Trucking, RMH Concrete & Foundations, French’s Hybrids, Spencer Signs, Miller’s Norwalk, J. Fannin & Sons, New Legacy Farms, Townline Tiling, Riley Companies, New Era Surfacing, as well as key donors Sean Moore, Mona Wolfe Dauch, John Pickett and The Fab Fifty.
As the district looks to the future, this project stands as a beacon of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision. The new track and stadium renovations are more than just facilities; they represent the district’s unwavering commitment to fostering excellence and building a bright future for its students and community members.
