School Activities

Please list all activities, along with the years (grade-levels), in which you have participated during high school. Include clubs, teams, musical groups, etc. and major awards or accomplishments in each (i.e. elected student body, class, or club officer; committee chairperson; team captain; newspaper editor).

Leadership Positions

Please list all elected or appointed leadership positions, along with the years (grade-levels), held in community or work activities. Only those positions in which you were directly responsible for directing or motivating others should be included (i.e. elected officer; committee chairperson; team captain; work area manager; community leader).

Community Activities

Please list community activities, along with the years (grade-levels), in which you have participated and note any major accomplishment in each as well as the amount of time involved. List any activities outside of school in which you have participated for the betterment of the community. Be certain to list any participation in community theatre groups, musical groups, dance affiliations, or any other area of the fine arts, which would be relevant to your major. Western Reserve Endowment Scholarships

The Western Reserve Local School Endowment Fund represents a community-based organization designed to develop and provide a permanent source of supplemental support for improving the quality of education. The Endowment Fund is comprised of donations made by individuals, corporations, private foundations, civic and social groups. A graduating Western Reserve senior will receive the Western Reserve Endowment Scholarship for $1,000.00 for showing achievement in leadership and service. Please complete the following essay:

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dalton Scholarship

The Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dalton Scholarship is a $500.00 nonrenewable scholarship. A Western Reserve graduate that is pursuing a degree in agriculture or related field will receive this award.

Western Reserve 4-H Scholarship

All applicants must meet the following requirements: Have been a member of a 4-H club for at least four years. Be eligible to graduate from Western Reserve High School at the end of the current school year. Be entering a two or four year degree program at an accredited college or university. The amount of this non-renewable scholarship will be $500.00. Please include a list of: 4-H activities including: club name(s), years of participation, club offices held, and projects.

Leroy, Beverly, and Daniel Stober Legacy Community Leadership Fund Scholarship

Criteria of Eligibility: Graduating senior of Western Reserve High School, and the recipient must attend a four-year academic institution. Student must perform a minimum of 400 community service hours over his/her four-year high school career. A detailed account of all of the student’s community service must accompany the application and confirm the minimum service hours needed. Neither financial need nor GPA will be determining factors of this $1,200.00 scholarship. Please complete the following essay:

Diane Chairez Memorial Scholarship

A memorial scholarship to honor former Western Reserve elementary teacher, Diane Chairez. Requirements: Entering a four-year degree program in the fields of communication, art, foreign languages, elementary education, and secondary education.

Lynn K. Johnson-Del Medico "Strive for Success" Scholarship

The "Strive for Success" Memorial Scholarship, in memory of Lynn Johnson Del Medico, is a $500.00 scholarship awarded to a graduating Western Reserve senior. Requirements: The applicant must be pursuing a career in education GPA of 3.0 or above. In a short essay, address the qualities you feel a teacher needs for success. Explain why you have chosen the field of education. Identify future goals and describe how significant individual(s) have positively influenced your decision to pursue a career in education.

Vic Barson Trust Scholarship

Criteria of Eligibility (in order of importance): Student graduating from Western Reserve High School participation in any sport at the varsity level with good moral character will receive strong consideration. Financial need will also be considered. Minimum grade point average of 2.5. This award is for a single year of study at the undergraduate level and is not renewable. Preference will be shown for students pursuing a career in a sports-related field. Student may be enrolled at any accredited academic institution within the continental U.S.A.

The Ommert Family Scholarship

Criteria for eligibility: Junior, senior, or graduate of Western Reserve School District, Huron County, with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The scholarship shall be awarded without regard to race, gender, religion, or national origin. Preferential consideration will be shown for applicants in the following order: pursuing education toward careers in emergency management, first responders (police, fire, EMS), or criminal justice. Available to students attending technical schools, two-year, or four-year degree programs leading to careers listed in (d) Recipients will be selected based on financial need. In the event the first recipient does not use the award, we will name a second recipient, and so on. Preference will be given to students with a history of participation in scouting organizations (Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America). There is no essay required for consideration of this scholarship.
